- What is WWEBB?
-
WWEBB is a private membership organization based in the United States and run by native born
American citizens of non-African descent
who have had dealings in Africa and recognize the need for a way to identify
serious, honestly run businesses in view of a large amount of deception that is,
sadly, rampant in that part of the world. Our view was to create an environment where businesses could take steps to emphasize their forthrightness and honesty
while opening themselves to scrutiny and criticism that prospective business
partners could examine. Although our membership start is in Africa, our view is worldwide, and we accept applications from all countries.
- What is WWEBB NOT?
-
WAGBB is not a filter for every existing business in the region and it is not a
research organization that investigates or reports on non-members. If you
have dealings with a non-member, you may encourage them to join our
organization, but you may not draw any conclusions if they are not members.
- What are the benefits of membership? Go to TOP
-
WWEBB represents an open disclosure way for members to demonstrate their
honesty in business. Because the fees are not refundable and the public
can see whether you (member) continue to be a member in good standing
or not, everyone will know that your commitment to honest business is
continuing. Because the complaint count against you and the count of
your responses and the count of resolutions is also visible, visitors can
see that you react and solve problems. See Membership Agreement
As a result of membership and good standing, you should be able to
much more easily satisfy new business partners of your honor and
reliability, resulting in much easier and faster new partners, investors or
customers.
Complaint resolution between a member and a complaining entity can be
done with our help, if both parties request our help in mediation. A fee will
be agreed for such mediation, based on the particulars. Such a fee will be
divided between the member and the complaining party, and both fees
parts must be received before mediation begins. If only one fee is received,
it will be returned, less a processing fee, and that party will receive the benefit
of the doubt in the case being argued.
- Who can join WWEBB? Go to TOP
-
Any business individual or entity in WWEBB is eligible. This includes all
sizes of entity. The size is indicated on our viewable listings. A separate
membership list is kept for business entities outside of the region that wish
to do business with our members in the region. This list will be available to
our members only.
- Is there a fee to the African business for joining WWEBB? Go to "#TOP
-
Absolutely, yes. It is part of our premise that most dishonest businesses will
not want to be open to scrutiny and also will resist paying a substantial fee
for membership in an oversight organization such as ours. The minimum fee
for membership is $___/year, paid semi-annually and not refundable after ten days.
- Who can see your data about WWEBB members? Go to TOP
-
Most of our data is viewable FREE by the public via Internet. Only the telephone
contact information is not immediately viewable without a small fee. The fee for
telephone contact data is only $___ per company. We accept PayPal for this
data, and we provide the telephone numbers via email after the payment clears.
This is a manual process, and may take 24 hours. If a non-member wants to read
detailed data about the problems and their resolution that we have on file, a paid
procedure is available, but the counts of complaints and their status as 'answered'
and 'resolved' are public.
- How do you check out your registered members?
-
We make calls to the references they give us. We also have partners in West Africa
who may do on-site or further investigations. We also may contact embasies or
consulates in the United States or the respective home countries when complaints
come in. Our registration process is complex and thorough, giving us a lot of data
to check. You can see indicators of the number of references and complaints filed,
answered and resolved.
- Who can file complaints against a member? Go to TOP
-
Anyone who has provable, direct contact with a member can bring any question of
dissatisfaction to our attention. We also will post the results of our own investigation
of new members, if negative, as if they came from the public, and we will also try to
resolve any such issues.
- How can I make a complaint against a member?
-
The best way is to fill in the complaint form. It also contains a comment section
where you can elaborate if the other fields and choices are not adequate.
We will register and then process your complaint as quickly as we can.
Sometimes this takes hours, and sometimes a few days.
- How does WWEBB support itself? Go to TOP
-
As you can easily understand, it is expensive to keep our files up to date.
This cost involves paying people in the USA and abroad to do research
as well as phone and net communications costs, hosting, database maintenance,
marketing to new members, and developing contacts with official organizations
in many places. The support comes from the fees charged to members and,
to a lesser extent, from the small fees for access to the non-public parts of
our database.
- Is the complaint process free?
-
Almost free -- because we don't want people to put false complaints on
file. However the fee is extremely small and may be eliminated in the
future. Please remember that the investigation process is extremely time
consuming and involves expenses to us both in the USA and overseas. Just
putting your complaint into the database takes human effort.
- Can I email a complaint? Go to TOP
-
Yes, BUT it will take longer to process and may be ignored at our option.
Countries that have no access to PayPal can submit this way without
charge, but we expect all of our complaints to come from Western Block
nations, not from Africa.
- Unfair, incomplete or inaccurate complaints: What can a member do?
-
The member must file a response directed to both WWEBB and the complaining
entity. No one may complain without identifying himself and the member
and the nature of the transaction or problem in detail. When the member
files a response, we count that as an 'answered' complaint. When the
issue is resolved to the satisfaction of the member and the complaining
party, we count that as a 'resolved' complaint. Responses are filed the same way as
complaints, but indicate that you are filing an answer or a resolution (settlement description).
- What if the business I want is not listed? Go to TOP
- Ask the business administration to join our organization. It will be good for them and
will help you to make a positive decision. If they refuse, ask what is their reason. We are the
only independent, non-local organization that is trying to address this problem for the region.
If they want to sign up, they can see our contact list and can go to our website to proceed.
- What is your Liability Disclaimer?
- Users of this service do so at their own risk. We take all possible precautions to investigate
each member's references and all complaints as best we can and post the results honestly. Also, if
you are interested, you can look at the non-public parts of our data for very small fees for
any given member. When you use this service, you expressly give up the right to hold us
responsible for oversights and omissions. You are still encouraged to do your own confirmatory
research, and we will be grateful to know of any discrepancies you find. Please submit any on a complaint
form or in an email to us.
- How do I pay for membership? Go to TOP
- Annual payments can be made by bank wire or by payment to an authorized representative
of WWEBB in your area. You must fill in the name of the agent who introduced you to WWEBB, unless
you found the website in some other way. Credit card payments may be arranged, but be fairly
warned in advance that any payment to us that is not made good or is fraudulent after the first ten
days of membership will result in your rating being permanently displayed as POOR on our
database, for all to see.
- Who are your authorized agents?
- We are expanding a list of trusted agents in various cities. Their purpose is to introduce our
membership and its benefits, to investigate problems and verify data submitted by members. We
pay them for those services. Members are strongly cautioned not to attempt to unfairly
influence our agents. It will result in a POOR rating on our service and the agent will lose all
money we owe to him immediately.
- I paid for my listing, but I can not find it? Go to TOP
- If three days has passed, please
Send email with your business name, phone, city and how you made payment and to whom and when and how much you paid. NOTE: You must have an input authorization code in order to fill in the online form on our website that starts your listing process.
- How do I update my information? Go to TOP
- For the first ten days after your registration, you can update your information online yourself at the Join/Update page.
After that, we must do it, so you must send us an email with the new or changed information. The reason is: We must investigate
all changes to a member's record to verify it, and if we let the member update at anytime, we will miss the changes. This would
allow members to get a good rating and then change the name of their company or references, etc.estigation of member's references and our listing of any comments or complaints concerning a member. This information may be used in conjunction with any further due diligence you may wish to pursue so as to reach an informed decision about the member's character and behavior.
- I got SPAM Email from WWEBB! Go to TOP
- WARNING: Because of our stand against online dishonesty, many people have been spoofing emails sent to strangers and putting various From: or Return: addresses @wwebb.org on the emails. This is probably done to discredit our organization or to bring you to their website (which may be dangerous and is certainly dishonest!) WE HAVE NO CONTROL OVER SUCH EMAILS. We cannot follow up on them, either. We suggest you never open emails from wwebb.org unless you are a member or have applied for membership.
